Ivy League and Kids Fit Foundation are on a mission to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The category 4 hurricane crashed into the Texas coast, devastating families and businesses. Tragically, at least twenty people have been reported dead, and estimates place the total cost of property damage and lost business in the billions. This is a devastating catastrophe for the US and we want to use our resources to help in any way we can.
Our Executive Director, Joe Evans, has decided to put together a small team to drive 16 hours to Texas to help the families in need. We are planning to bring our truck and our STEM trailer full of food, supplies and basic essentials.
“I woke up this morning realizing I need to put my efforts to helping families get back on their feet,” said Evans. “My heart goes out to all the victims in the tragedy and I couldn’t sit back and just watch it on television. I’m hoping to go to Texas and even if I only help one family, the trip down will be worth it.”
Our goals are to feed one thousand people each day that are working on putting their household and lives back together, create an atmosphere of positive support and provide simple essentials for comfort.
All in-kind donations will be accepted until Friday, September 1st by 6:00pm or Monday from noon-5pm. Please bring donations to the Ivy League Rec Center.
